Week of 5/10/10-5/14/10 (4Q- Week 6)

8th Graders,


I can't believe it, but we actually have a full week of classes without any interruptions, well, except for league finals where some students will be getting out of school early. Anyway, we have a full week to look forward to.

WHAT UNIT ARE WE IN?
We are going to finally start the Ultimate Frisbee Tournament. The tournament is going to be short, only 3 days- Monday-Wednesday. Thursday, we will have the championship.

WHAT UNIT ARE WE STARTING NEXT?
After Ultimate Frisbee, we will finish the year with golf and the Sickler Golf Classic tournament.

YOUR FITNESS PLAN PROJECT
Congratulations for turning in your project packet. I was incredibly impressed with how many of you turned it in and, glancing through many of them, the quality is impressive.

If you want to earn some extra credit, I would love to get some feedback about the on-line tutorials that I made. If you feel that they were helpful or, they were confusing, please email with the following:
a. What you specifically liked or specifically confused you
b. Why it helped you so much or specifically what I can do to make it better.

This week, you will be starting to log and track your workouts. You have to fill out your online logs every day for 14 days. You will be filling out 3 logs every day. One for your Cardio activity and 2 for your MS/ME activities. The MS/ME logs will say MS/ME Activity 1 and MS/ME Activity 2. I gave a brief tutorial about how to fill out the online forms. Only the cardio is available right now. By the end of the day, I will have all of the forms ready to use. To check out the Cardio Form, click HERE.

WHAT IS OUR RUN THIS WEEK?
Because of league finals on Wednesday, I have decided not to have a run day and instead of continue with Frisbee. Friday will be our run or fitness day. Not sure which one we will do yet.

DID YOU FILL OUT YOUR E-LOGS?
e-Run Log: No, you DO NOT need to fill out a log for the Figure 8 Run.

e-Fitness Log: You can fill out the e-Fitness Log for the Outdoor Team Fitness Challenge and earn some extra credit.

IS HOMEWORK ASSIGNED THIS WEEK?

ARTICLE OF THE WEEK (AOW)
This year I have noticed that many students have asthma. I know that is has been quite windy this year stirring up more allergies, etc. This is a great article on asthma. If you have asthma, you will find this helpful, and for those without asthma, it is important to know more about it because you may have a friend/family member that has it. Check out the article HERE. If you want to earn extra credit regarding these AOW, go to the Extra Credit page and check out the "Little Ones".
