Week of 9/20/10-9/24/10 (1Q- Week 6)

8th Graders,
This week marks the 8th week of the quarter and the week that grades are due in Pinnacle. Any student with a C- or lower will be receiving a progress report indicating that works need to be done to get back on track. If you know that you fit in that category and want to find out what you can do before these are sent out, come and see me. I will be more than willing to help.
WEEK AT A GLANCE

WHAT UNIT ARE WE IN?
You will be starting Strength Training on Monday in our weight room. Our weight room is located in the girls locker room. You need to go to the Strength Training Page and print out the 2 unit handouts. These handouts need to go behind Unit Materials in your Sportfolio.

WHAT UNIT IS COMING UP NEXT?
After Strength Training is Lacrosse. There will be more information on Lacrosse as we get closer to the unit.

WHAT IS OUR RUN THIS WEEK?
We will be doing the Partner Mile. This is a great team run. To read about it, click HERE. This run is going to require that you fill out an online log.

WHAT FITNESS ACTIVITY ARE WE DOING THIS WEEK?
We will be in the rock wall, doing a 20 station Fitness Circuit. It is a good circuit so be prepared to work hard.

DID YOU FILL OUT YOUR E-RUN LOG?
You need to fill out the 2 Mile Run Log for last week's Pedometer run. It is due by end of day on Thursday. If you have any issues with filling out this log, PLEASE COME SEE ME AND WE CAN LOG IT ON MY COMPUTER IN MY OFFICE.

IS HOMEWORK ASSIGNED THIS WEEK?
Yes, go to your 8th Grade Homework Page to check them out. I posted HW #11 which is a Blog Reflection on your 2 Mile Run. You need to follow all of the blog specifications. Click here to check out the blog.

ARE THERE ANY ASSIGNMENTS DUE THIS WEEK?
Yes, you need to have HW #9 and #10 for Monday.

I have an Extra Credit Page that always has different types of Extra Credit assignments you can choose from. I would love some Fitness Mixes. Make me some good CD's to use on your Run and Fitness Days. Read about the assignment guidelines on the extra credit page.

ARTICLE OF THE WEEK (AOW)
Check out this article on a new kind of Fitness taught in an Elementary Physical Education class. Schools across the country are changing the way the Physical Education has traditionally been taught. This article touches on why I like you to practice your graphing skills as well as basic math skills when calculating pulse and reflecting on improvement. Remember, there is an Extra Credit assignment you can do for every AOW which can be found on the Extra Credit Page.

LAST MINUTE REMINDERS
-HW #9 and 10 are due on Monday.
-HW #11 was assigned and is due on Friday.
-Fill out your 2 Mile Run Log.

YOUR WORD OF THE WEEK (WOW)


Go to your WOW Page, find this week's WOW and then fill out the WOW template which you need to download from this page. This template will be due on the final week of the quarter. You will have a quiz of all these words.
