8th Graders,
Hope that all of you had a nice Spring Break. It was definitely good for me. I was able to spend a lot of time with family as well as start running again, getting myself in Summer shape.
Looks like we have exactly 8 weeks of school left. These are going to fly by, I guarantee it. In the next 8 weeks, you will have STAR testing and a Fitness Plan project. I will explain both in this blog and next week's.
WEEK AT A GLANCE
Check out your Google Calendar for your "Week At a Glance".
WHAT UNIT ARE WE IN?
We are starting Ultimate Frisbee on the Track Field. This is going to be a strange unit because of all the STAR testing taking place next week. You will not have PE every day next week, so, the unit might feel a bit rushed. I will do my best to adapt the unit to the schedule next week. I will post the STAR testing schedule to the 8th Grade Page so you can see what next week will look like.
WHAT UNIT ARE WE STARTING NEXT?
After Ultimate Frisbee, we will finish the year with golf and the Sickler Golf Classic tournament.
YOUR FITNESS PLAN PROJECT
The California State Physical Education standards require that all 8th graders be able to design and execute a 2 week Fitness Plan which means that you will be making your own Fitness Plan, tracking it and then reflecting on it. All of these components will make up your Fitness Plan Project. The project will be kicked off tomorrow in the Rock Wall to begin class. I am hoping the kick off only takes about 15 minutes and then we will start Ultimate Frisbee.
I will handing out the project timeline and due dates tomorrow, however, if you want to "sneak peak" at your project and what will be involved, you can go to the 2 Week Fitness Plan Webpage. In fact, if you go to the Miscellaneous/Non Required Handouts box, you will see the Fitness Plan Project Outline/Timeline. This is what I am handing out in class. You can print one out if you would like and start to look at it.
This webpage has all the information you will need to be successful on this project. Keep in mind, you have 2 assignments due this Friday, the Fitness Plan HW Assignment (which you download from this page) and your Fitness Plan Packet. I will go over this tomorrow.
WHAT IS OUR RUN THIS WEEK?
This week will be the Partner Mile. You WILL have to fill out the e-Partner Mile log for this run.
WHAT FITNESS ACTIVITY ARE WE DOING THIS WEEK?
Instead of a Fitness Day this week, we will be in the Rock Wall or M/U, discussing the Fitness Plan Project Packet. Make sure you bring it to class on Friday.
DID YOU FILL OUT YOUR E-LOGS?
e-Run Log: You DO need to fill out the e-Run Log for the Pedomter Run. I noticed that very few of you have actually filled it out, please do it for Full Credit.
e-Fitness Log: We did not have a Fitness Day due to the NASA fieldtrip therefore you can not fill out an extra credit log.
IS HOMEWORK ASSIGNED THIS WEEK?
Yes, you have 2 assignments:
1. You need to complete your Fitness Plan Homework Assignment. You can download this assignment from either your Fitness Plan Page or 8th Grade HW Page, you choose.
2. You need to download and print your Fitness Plan Project Packet and bring to class on Friday. You DO NOT fill it out, just bring the printed out packet. This can only be downloaded from the Fitness Plan Page.
ARE THERE ANY ASSIGNMENTS DUE THIS WEEK?
Yes, there are 2 due this week.
1. Fitness Plan Homework Assignment due on Friday, April 23rd.
2. Fitness Plan Project Packet due on Friday, April 23rd.
