Week of 4/26/10-4/30/10 (4Q- Week 4)

8th Graders,


This is a big week for you, STAR testing starts on Monday. I am confident that you all will do very well. I highly recommend that you eat and sleep well the next few days so that you can stay alert and focused on the tests. I know that the stress level can be high and it is important to use techniques and methods that make you feel comfortable to lower your stress levels.

WEEK AT A GLANCE

Instead of looking at the Google Calendar this week, just click HERE to see your STAR testing schedule. To be honest, I am not sure what we will be doing this week because of the unusual and inconsistent schedule we have this week. I plan to continue Frisbee skills as well as a either a Run or Fitness day this week.

WHAT UNIT ARE WE IN?
We will continue with Ultimate Frisbee, but, because of STAR testing, I will not being seeing you ever day, therefore, I am not sure how I will set up the drills. Every year, my units during STAR testing week are inconsistent. I will do the best that I can.

WHAT UNIT ARE WE STARTING NEXT?
After Ultimate Frisbee, we will finish the year with golf and the Sickler Golf Classic tournament.

YOUR FITNESS PLAN PROJECT
This past week, we took 1.5 class periods to discuss the 8th Grade Fitness Plan. There are some important updates for you. First of all, if you were ABSENT on Friday, 4/23, you need to watch the 2nd TUTORIAL called "8th Grade Fitness Plan Packet Overview (Absent)". This will tell you what your packet needs to look and like and what order it needs to be in. All key information can be found on your Fitness Plan Project Webpage.

To help aid you in completing your Fitness Plan, I have made several audiovisual TUTORIALS that essentially explain how to fill out each page of the Fitness Plan Packet. Some are more detailed than others. All TUTORIALS can be accessed at this LINK. It is your responsibility to watch them and use them to help you fill out your Fitness Plan correctly.

PLEASE NOTE: I HAVE CHANGED THE DUE DATE OF THE COMPLETED PACKET FROM FRIDAY, 4/30, TO MONDAY, 5/3.

Not sure what we will do for a run day this week.

WHAT FITNESS ACTIVITY ARE WE DOING THIS WEEK?
Not sure what we will do for a Fitness Day this week.

DID YOU FILL OUT YOUR E-LOGS?
e-Run Log: Yes, you need to fill out an e-Run Log for the Partner Mile.

e-Fitness Log: You can fill out the e-Fitness Log for the Rock Wall Circuit and earn some extra credit.

IS HOMEWORK ASSIGNED THIS WEEK?
No, you have to continue working on your Fitness Plan Packet, it is due on Monday, May 3rd at roll call.

ARE THERE ANY ASSIGNMENTS DUE THIS WEEK?
No, you do not have anything due this week. Please focus on your STAR testing.
