8th Graders,

We are in our 7th week of the 4th Quarter. We have just over 3 weeks of school left. In fact, if anybody is counting, it is 17 days until Summer Break.

WEEK AT A GLANCE

To see what is happening, check out your Google Calendar.

WHAT UNIT ARE WE IN?
I have decided to extend Ultimate Frisbee because of the Rain Outs, STAR Testing and Assembly schedules. I am not sure how much longer we will be in UF, but, Tournament play will continue this week.

WHAT UNIT ARE WE STARTING NEXT?
Our next unit is scheduled for Golf. I am not sure if we will do Golf this year. I want to see how this week goes with UF and then decide after that.

YOUR FITNESS PLAN PROJECT
You are in your final week of tracking your Fitness Plan Activities. Most of you are tracking 1 Cardiovascular and 2 MS/ME activities. I realize that some of you are tracking a Flexibility activity as well. The bottom line, continue to keep logging those workouts on a daily basis at the following on-line logs:

WHAT IS OUR RUN THIS WEEK?
You are going to do the run we have not done in quite a long, long time--- THE MILE RUN. Be prepared on Wednesday to run the mile. This particular mile will be recorded on your Spring Scores under your Cardiovascular activity. Good luck!!! You will be required to fill out an e-run log for the MILE.

WHAT FITNESS ACTIVITY ARE WE DOING THIS WEEK?
On Friday, we will continue with Day 2 of your Spring Fitness Assessment. These activities will focus on your Cardiovascular Fitness improvement when you do the 2 minute Jump Rope, 2 minute bleacher steps and then MS/ME improvement when we look at your 1 minute Tricep Dip and then pull ups. Be prepared.

DID YOU FILL OUT YOUR E-LOGS?
e-Run Log: No, we did not have a run this week.

e-Fitness Log: You can fill out the e-Fitness Log for the Spring Fitness Assessment and earn some extra credit.

IS HOMEWORK ASSIGNED THIS WEEK?
Yes,
1. You need to look up your new Spring BMI at the following WEBSITE and record it on Tab #1, Page 11 Fitness Assessment worksheet.

2. You also need to log your Fitness Activities on your Daily Workout logs for your Fitness Plan project.

ARE THERE ANY ASSIGNMENTS DUE THIS WEEK?
Yes, your daily on-line workout logs.

ARTICLE OF THE WEEK (AOW)
I recently saw this article and it reminded me of your Fitness Plan Project. Although this article is not about a Fitness Plan, it is about the proper steps when selecting a personal trainer. Since you will be entering high school next year, and many of you will be athletes, it is important to start a fitness program. For those of you not planning to participate in a sport, you will need to start thinking about taking responsibility for your fitness. This is a very helpful and informative ARTICLE.

If you want to earn extra credit regarding these AOW, go to the Extra Credit page and check out the "Little Ones".

There are several to choose from, check out the Extra Credit Page.
