8th Graders,
I hope that you had a nice 3 day weekend and I also hope there was more play than work. This marks the 4th week of school. I can't believe how fast it is flying by. There is a lot going on this week, so please make sure you read through this ENTIRE blog.

WHAT UNIT ARE WE IN?
We are still in Cooperative Activities & Fitness Testing. This week, I hope to wrap up your Fitness Testing by completing your Push-Up test. We will have the "Perfect Push-Up" lesson first, just to remind you on the key aspects of a push-up. Please click here to see what a Perfect Push-Up looks like. I recommend that you practice as much as you can have someone watch and critique you.
WHAT UNIT IS COMING UP NEXT?
Your next unit is Strength Training. If you want to download the two handouts for it and get a head start, click here. I hope to update this page this week so that you can read more information about the unit. There are 2 downloads that you need to print out and put in Tab #3 before the unit begins.
WHAT IS OUR RUN THIS WEEK?
We will be doing the Pedometer Run this week. Please go to the following link and read about Pedometers. It is important that you know what they are and how to wear them before we do this run. If you have your own Pedometer, feel free to wear it for the run and I will give you 2 extra credit points.
WHAT FITNESS ACTIVITY ARE WE DOING THIS WEEK?
Our Fitness Activity this week will be the Push-Up test. On Friday, if we finish all of the testing, we will have a cooperative cardio activity. You need to read over the "Perfect Push-Up" sheet in your Sportfolio, Tab #2 to prepare for tomorrow's lesson.
DID YOU FILL OUT YOUR E-RUN LOG?
You did not have a run last week, therefore you DO NOT have to fill out an online log. Please fill out the e-Mile Log if you have not done so already.
IS HOMEWORK ASSIGNED THIS WEEK?
Go to your Homework Page and complete the following:
-HW #6- Finding your BMI (Due Friday, September 10)
-HW #7 and HW #8 which explain Heart Rate and RPE (Due Monday, September 13th).
ARE THERE ANY ASSIGNMENTS DUE THIS WEEK?
Yes, you need to turn in your BMI printout this Friday at roll call. Be sure to put name, period and roll at the top.
I have an Extra Credit Page that always has different types of Extra Credit assignments you can choose from. I would love some Fitness Mixes. Make me some good CD's to use on your Run and Fitness Days. Read about the assignment guidelines on the extra credit page.
ARTICLE OF THE WEEK (AOW)
Check out this article on Achieving Total Health, pretty informative. Remember, there is an Extra Credit assignment you can do for every AOW which can be found on the Extra Credit Page.
LAST MINUTE REMINDERS
-You have 3 new homework assignments (6, 7 and 8). Get them done as soon as possible.
-You have the Pedometer Run this week.
-Get your Strength Training handouts printed out and behind Tab #3.
YOUR WORD OF THE WEEK (WOW)

Go to your WOW Page, find this week's WOW and then fill out the WOW template which you need to download from this page. This template will be due on the final week of the quarter. You will have a quiz of all these words.
